Afghan President Ashraf Ghani reached Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, on Monday to attend the 9th Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process Foreign Ministers’ meeting.

The Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs says Afghan officials are attending the two-day meeting with a message of regional consensus for peace and development.

“We need more coordination; we need a regional consensus for peace within Afghanistan and for the peace that we have achieved,” Mirwais Nab, a political deputy who is in Tajikistan to attend the summit, said.

Fifty countries from around the region and the world will attend the summit. Representatives of the participating countries and organisations consider the Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process to be effective in terms of Afghan peace.

At the end of the meeting, the participating countries and organisations will issue a joint statement on Afghanistan.
