Quaid League (PML-Q) Secretary-General Tariq Basheer Cheema on Friday categorically rejected the claims by Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry and said that his party did not make any promise with the government about the no-trust motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Earlier in the day, Fawad Chaudhry had announced that the PML-Q’s reservations had largely been addressed and all the allied parties would formally announce full confidence in the prime minister before convening of the National Assembly session for the no-confidence motion.

The minister had made the remarks following his meeting with PML-Q leader and Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi in Lahore.

Talking to a news channel, Cheema said that the controversial “PECA ordinance” was discussed during his meeting with Pervaiz Elahi.

“No-trust motion was even not discussed in the meeting,” clarified the PML-Q leader.

“I don’t know why Fawad Chaudhry is giving a false statement about the settlement with PML-Q on the no-trust move,” he added.

If Fawad has to take decisions of PML-Q then the Chaudhry brothers should leave politics, he added.

When asked on which side PML-Q is standing on the no-trust move, he replied that his party will make a final decision in the next 24 to 48 hours.

“We have reservations with government and we have to face masses in next general elections, therefore we will decide what would be better for our party and the province,” he added.

Without giving names, Cheema said that ruling PTI’s ministers have told him that PM Imran Khan has given the approval to remove Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.
