As the coronavirus situation is getting grim in the country, Twitterati demanded Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood to close educational institutions across the country.
The NCOC was expected to reach a decision on whether schools would close or not in a meeting held today after consultations with the federal and provincial health and education ministers. However, it did not decide, saying it will first look at the data of positivity rates of various institutions.
Hundreds of Twitter users, especially students, have mentioned the education minister in their tweets and subsequently, Shafqat Mehmood was trending on the microblogging site yet again.
The Twitterati said that with a number of students, who haven’t been vaccinated, present together in the classrooms, the situation could be hazardous for them and others around them.
One of the most interesting tweet called on the NCOC to wake up as positivity ratio has soared to 8.71 percent.
Another Twitterati wrote that no SOPs are followed in universities. “Uni students life is also precious give some priority to us as well conduct online classes and exams,” it wrote and addressed NCOC, Shahfqat Mahmood, Imran Khan and Murad Raas.
