Leader of the opposition and president of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Shehbaz Sharif has warned that the existing conditions of the IMF regimen pose a serious threat to the country’s defense capability and may result in the paralysis of the future government. He demanded the resignation of prime minister Imran Khan and said that the government’s coalition partners should also oppose this mini-budget in the national interest.

Shehbaz said that the country’s defense capability and future system of government will be paralyzed owing to the conditions put in place by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Shehbaz Sharif said in his statement that another mini-budget is being presented on the demands of the IMF and that another thing he had already cautioned the people about has come true and another claim of the government has been proven to be false.

He further stated that the government had lied to the nation and the parliament. He accused the government of being criminally negligent in protecting the interests of the nation. Shehbaz said that reports of a mini-budget owing to IMF terms is an alarming situation for the country’s national security.

The PML-N president said that he has repeatedly warned that the incumbent government has proven to be a conspiracy against the economic sovereignty of Pakistan. He added that in the mini-budget, legislation on State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and General Sales Tax (GST) will make Pakistan an economic slave to the IMF and make the Governor SBP, a viceroy of the monetary agency.

He stated that approving the mini-budget would mean enforcing slavery upon the country and its people. He added that we will stand with the united opposition and fight against this anti-Pakistan mini-budget and block the passing of such legislation.

Shehbaz Sharif further remarked that this mini-budget will be extremely deadly for the nation which is already battling high inflation. Petrol, electricity, and gas will become more expensive and the life of the common man will become even harder. He added that rising poverty has crossed every limit of oppression.

Any tax increase will further damage businesses hence, the economy will continue to shrink leading to millions becoming unemployed, Shehbaz warned. He claimed that inflation is imminent and liberation from this tyrannical rule is the only salvation for Pakistan.
