Four people on Saturday were taken into custody on charges of threatening and harassing the staff and students of a college in Islamabad. One of the arrested people was the son of a famous including a son journalist/TV anchor.

The Shalimar police upon a complaint lodged by Dr. Asad Faiz, the principal of Islamabad Model College for Boys F-11/3, registered the case under section 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), 355 (assault or criminal force with intent to dishonor person otherwise than on grave provocation), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 542 (punishment for wrongful confinement) of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

 The police later produced the four persons in court after which they were sent on judicial remand.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Saddar Zone Nosherwan Ali said that a caller contacted the police helpline on Saturday morning that people in a Vigo were harassing a girl at F-11 Markaz. The caller also provided the police with the registration number of the vehicle.

He added that a team was immediately dispatched to the Markaz. Around 9 am, another call was received by the police in which the caller said that some people had entered the Islamabad Model College for Boys F-11/3 and were beating the students and the staff.

Ali shared that upon reaching the college, the Police saw a gathering of people, comprising of parents of students. The four individuals were arrested and taken to the Shalimar police station along with the Vigo.

The SP said, “At the time of their arrest, they were drunk” adding that the four people were also taken to the hospital for their medical examination.

The police approached the caller who had reported the harassment incident who said that he had witnessed the girl’s harassment and had reported it to the police but was unaware of the victim’s identity.
