The Pakistan Cricket Board has refused to comment if the PCB governing body will try to convince CEO Wasim Khan to stay on in his role. Earlier today, the PCB confirmed that khan had tendered his resignation citing a cut in authority.
The Correspondent.pk contacted the PCB’s Media Operation Department for comment on the issue. When posed the question, the media operation official Shakeel Khan said that they could not confirm if the PCB governing body would try to convince Waseem Khan to continue in his role.
The official said that while they know the intentions of what the governing body would try to do, they could not disclose if they would try to change the disgruntled CEO’s mind.
In December 2018, Wasim Khan has joined as the managing director of the PCB. During his reign as CEO, he has been credited as one of the most influential CEO in Pakistan’s history as he brought international cricket back in Pakistan and the Srilanka, Bangladesh, West Indies, and Zimbabwe teams visited Pakistan after a long hiatus in his 3-year tenure which seems to be ending soon in a horrendous fashion.
Earlier, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Wasim Khan has resigned after his powers were curtailed.
Wasim Khan was taken on board by former chairman Ehsan Mani in 2019 to run the affairs of the board on modern lines, on a three-year contract that was set to expire in 2022.
“We have started the process of revamping the PCB and under Wasim, we now have an experienced leader of the management team who will oversee the implementation of the Board decisions. His first task would be to oversee the reforms of domestic cricket structure,” Mani had said when he had announced Wasim Khan’s appointment.
And in his first press conference as PCB chief last month, Ramiz had hinted that a complete overhaul of the system was needed in the cricket board.
Rumors of change in the PCB management had started since Ramiz’s nomination as the new PCB chief.
Pakistan’s coaches Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis were the first to go when they stepped down from their roles after the team was announced for the T20 World Cup.
