Pakistan will consult legal experts to take action against the England and New Zealand cricket boards after they cancelled tours citing “security” issues which cost Pakistan millions of rupees, Information Minister Fawad Chauhdry said on Tuesday.
The minister tweeted that consultations would be held with lawyers for taking legal action against the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and the New Zealand Cricket (NZC).
Fawad said that an international lobby was working against Pakistan.
His remarks came a day after the England and Wales Cricket Board had cancelled Pakistan tour citing security concerns. Earlier, New Zealand had backed out of the cricket series citing a “security alert” from their government just before the start of the first One-Day International in Rawalpindi on Friday.
Ironically, the third ODI of the women’s series between England and New Zealand is being played despite threats of two separate bomb attacks on the New Zealand team in English city Leicester.
A New Zealand Cricket spokesman said in a statement that the ECB received a threatening email relating to NZC. Although this did not specifically reference the White Ferns it was treated seriously, investigated, and deemed not credible.
