In the second game, Balochistan were able to defend a low total courtesy Umar Gul and Yasir Shah. Umar Gul rolled back the years and finished with 4 for 37 in his 4 overs. He picked up the crucial wicket of Kamran Akmal, who was looking set to play another blistering knock. Gul later came back to dismiss set Abdullah Shafiq to turn the game back in Balochistan’s favor. From the other end, Yasir Shah kept on squeezing the opposition with his miserly spell and also bagged three scalps. He dismissed Abid Ali, Rizwan Hussain and Saad Nasim.
With the bat, Balochistan posted 167, a score way below the trend set in the tournament. Imam ul Haq kept the innings together and remained unbeaten on 80 off 55 balls with 8 fours and a six. Awais Zia scored a struggling 36 while captain Haris Sohail scored 23. No other batsmen could reach the double figures.
Credit must be given to Central Punjab bowlers who were spot on with their line and lengths on a batting paradise. Not only they blocked the flow of runs but also kept on picking up wickets. Ehsan Adil was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets. Qasim Akram and Sohaibullah bowled miserly spells and just went for 29 runs in their 4 overs. Zafar Gohar bagged two wickets.
With this win Balochistan now find themselves at third spot with 6 points from 4 games while astonishingly Central Punjab are languishing in the bottom half with 3 losses from 4 games.
