France has finished its evacuation operation from Afghanistan’s capital, Defence Minister Florence Parly said on Twitter on Friday.
She said France would continue to help those who need protection to depart Afghanistan. During the operation, nearly 3,000 people, including more than 2,600 Afghans, had been brought to France, Parly said.
Earlier on Thursday, Australia and Norway halted evacuation flights from Afghanistan.
The Australian Prime Minister, Scott Morrison said, Australia’s military personnel had been evacuated just hours before the Kabul airport attack, and with security so precarious it was no longer safe to continue evacuations.
Talking to media in Canberra, Morrison said, “Our plan now moves into its post evacuation stage and that involves ensuring the process of returning, through our official humanitarian program.”
