Zulfiqar is said to be a grad student at Yale with an English major

The Islamabad Police have arrested model Zulfiqar Mannan for posing in front of Quaid-e-Azam’s portrait on the Islamabad Expressway.

The police had registered a case against the model for a photoshoot in Islamabad under Section 294 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The case was registered on the complaint of Rashid Malik on the 4th of August. Social media users are, however, criticizing the Islamabad Police for arresting the boy.

The FIR stated that the duo had taken pictures in revealing dresses in front of the portrait of the country’s founder Quaid-e-Azam and made these photos viral on social media.

Zulfiqar will be shifted to Islamabad from Lahore for further legal action against him as a case is registered against him and the model accompanying him.

The female colleague of the suspect is yet to be arrested, reports said.

The picture on social media showed a man and a woman in an obscene dress standing in front of the portrait of Quaid-e-Azam in the capital city of Islamabad.

They drew outrage from people on social media as they requested Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Hamza Shafqat to take action against the young couple.

Following the huge demand, the office of the Deputy Commissioner asked people to provide details of the photoshoot and the man and woman.

While expressing anger, social media users condemned the couple for promoting indecency and nudity in society. Journalists Ansar Abbasi strongly protested on social media and demanded DC Islamabad to take strict action.

“The DC Islamabad is requested to arrest the couple, who displayed extreme obscenity in public in the federal capital,” said Ansar Abbasi in a tweet.

Zulfiqar is said to be a grad student at Yale with an English major, primarily concentrating on anti-colonial literature, public writing, and subjectivity to explore the themes of power, gender, and revolution.
