Former Prime Minister of Afghanistan and Hezb-e-Islami Chief, Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, said that formal talks amongst the Afghan groups to form a negotiated government will start after the complete withdrawal of foreign forces from Afghanistan in the next few days.
In an inclusive interview with Radio Pakistan’s Special Correspondent, Bilal Mehsud, Gulbuddin Hekmatyar said that the stakeholders realize that in order to form a new government in Afghanistan, Afghan political leaders and the Taliban should formally sit on the dialogue table.
The Taliban have also preferred, in their internal meetings, to establish a dispensation in consultation with all the stakeholders; they do not want to impose an Islamic emirate of their own choice, the Hezb-i-Islami chief said.
He further added that informal interactions between Afghan political leaders and the Taliban have already started; soon, these contacts will convert into formal talks.
Gulbuddin expressed hope for an acceptable government for the Afghani people and the international community soon.
