Friday, the Foreign Office announced that it had appointed Asim Iftikhar to replace Zahid Hafeez Chaudhry as the new spokesperson.
Asim Iftikhar had previously served as Pakistan’s former ambassador to Thailand. In 2009, he was appointed as director in Ministry of foreign affairs and also remained the director general at the ministry from 2014 to 2017.
The foreign office has changed its spokesperson for the third time in the last two years. Iftikhar’s predecessor has been posted to Australia as high commissioner. Just as Aisha Farooqui, before him, was transferred to pursue a training course.
