Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin on Thursday lauded the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for achieving record revenue collection in July. The FBR collected Rs413 billion which is 21% more than the set target.

He said this while chairing the meeting of the APEX Committee on widening the tax base and the inclusion of retail businesses in Islamabad. The finance minister also emphasised that this increase in tax collection is largely because of the effective policies of the government.

Tarin further added that considerable efforts are being made for fiscal consolidation with a key focus to broaden the tax base by using artificial intelligence and innovative ways for bringing more people into the tax net.

The minister directed FBR to continue its diligent efforts for enhancing the tax collection.
