It’s a theft of its kind in Diplomatic Enclave as 1,000 Schengen visa stickers have been ‘stolen’ from Italian Embassy.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs has written a letter to the Ministry of Interior and the Federal Investigation informing about the theft and asking them “to check entry and exit points and report any seizure to the ministry.”

The ministry said the visa stickers had been stolen from embassy’s locker room. Of the visa stickers, 750 bore numbers ITA 041913251 to ITA 041914000 and 250 stickers have numbers from ITA 041915751 to ITA 041916000.

The letter said that the Italian authorities are conducting internal investigations to fix the responsibility.

Ministry of Interior should check at entry and exit points for those with these visa numbers, letter states.

Meanwhile, in response to queries from media, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri issued the following statement:

“The issue of the theft of visa stickers was reported to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by a foreign diplomatic mission in Islamabad. The information was immediately shared with the concerned authorities for taking appropriate action in this regard.”
