Former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Wednesday took oath as member of the Punjab Assembly after almost three years.

He was unable to take oath on Monday due to the absence of the speaker and deputy speaker.

He left the assembly soon after taking oath and had a brief conversation with journalists.

He called rumours as baseless that he is to join a political party.

Chaudhry Nisar had been elected from Punjab Assembly’s constituency PP-10 in the 2018 general elections as an independent candidate. He did not take oath as he alleged that he lost the National Assembly election due to rigging.

Nisar, who was one of the most influential leaders in the PML-N, contested the general elections as an independent candidate from two national and two provincial assembly constituencies after developing differences with former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
