In a bid to boost tourism in Pakistan, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued Tourism Promotion and Regional Integration (TPRI) licence to a newly launched private airline named North Air.
The privately launched new airline is planned to operate flights for Gilgit, Skardu, Chitral and Gwadar.
At the start, the airline will operate flights between Islamabad-Skardu, Islamabad-Chitral, Islamabad-Gilgit, and Islamabad-Gwadar. The head office of the private airline has been established at Islamabad International Airport.

Recently, the Pakistan International Airline (PIA) had commenced direct flights from Lahore to Skardu. The fare for one person was set at Rs7,500.
The decision to launch an airline came days after the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) lifted a ban on tourism imposed in the wake of a surge in coronavirus cases ahead of Eid.
The pandemic has hit the tourism sector badly as most tourist spots across Pakistan remained closed. Now, people can travel up north and other parts of the country amid strict compliance with the SOPs.
