ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has sought Rs1.90 per litre increase in the price of petrol and Rs3.25 per litre in the price of high-speed diesel.
OGRA has forwarded this summary to the Ministry of Finance that will take the decision after consultations with Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The prices of the petroleum products are usually reviewed at the end and the middle of the month. However, due to the Eid holiday till May 16, the authorities postponed the review till May 17 (today). A final decision on these prices will be announced today.
On April 30, PM Imran had refused to jack up the prices as suggested by OGRA owing to Ramzan. The OGRA had recommended up to Rs10 hike in the petroleum prices, but the prime minister had rejected the summary.
