The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has sought an increase of Rs5.45/litre in the petrol of price and a Rs6/litre increase in the price of diesel.
The Petroleum Division has sent a summary to the prime minister for approval, who will take a final decision in this regard. If increased, the new rates will come into effect from May 1.
In the start of April, the government slashed prices of petroleum products by up to Rs3 per litre.
The price of high-speed diesel (HSD) was reduced by Rs3 per litre, petrol by Rs1.55 per litre, kerosene oil by Rs1.55 per litre and light-diesel oil (LDO) by Rs1.56 per litre.
On April 15, petrol prices went down again by Rs1.79 to Rs108.56 per litre. High-speed diesel became cheaper by Rs2.32 to Rs110.79. Kerosene price will go down by Rs2.6 to Rs80 per litre.
The light diesel price also reduced by Rs2.21 to Rs77.65 per litre.
