The finance minister Shaukat Tarin has directed Financial Monitoring Unit (FMU) to complete the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) action plan.

The Finance Minister resolved to continue efforts for timely completion of the remaining parts of the FATF action plan,” stated a press release of the ministry of finance. “The Finance Minister expressed his satisfaction over the significant headway across all the areas of the action plan.”

Ms. Lubna Farooq Malik, Director General, Financial Monitoring Unit (FMU) briefed the finance minister about the significant progress made on the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) plan.

The director general highlighted various measures that the government has taken to strengthen the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Countering Financing of Terrorism (CFT) regime in line with the international best practices.

She also apprised the Finance Minister that FATF had acknowledged Pakistan’s performance in its last plenary held in February 2021.
