Cambridge examinations started on Monday (today) amid strict coronavirus standard operating procedures (SOPs) in place across Pakistan.
According to the recommended SOPs, desk have been placed at a distance inside examination halls. In addition, the examination halls will be sanitised after every two sessions.
Examinations have started despite calls from students and parents for their cancellation as coronavirus situation deteriorated in the country.
Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mehmood has extended good wishes to the students taking Cambridge examinations.
He took to twitter and said that these are tough times and difficult decisions have been made keeping the student’s best interest in view.
“British Council is committed to strict implementation of SOPs and we will monitor them closely. Good Luck!” the minister tweeted.
Shafqat, however, said that any students or their parents who are not comfortable with students taking examinations in this session can opt to take the examinations in October/November at no extra cost.
He shared the Cambridge document and asked parents and students to go through it carefully. “It has answers to different scenarios which facilitate students,” he added.
About the A Level students, Shafqat said: “As regards AS students, I have asked Cambridge to reconsider the 13 month condition for taking remaining papers considering the extraordinary situation.”
He expressed the hope that a positive decision will be taken soon.
