Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has criticised the government for failing to take steps to contain the spread of deadly coronavirus and said it could have been easily stopped by timely lockdown.

In a statement, Bilawal expressed condolences with the families of those who have died of coronavirus.

Expressing concern over the spread of coronavirus in the country, he said the situation in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has gone out of control due to the incompetence of the government.

“If it had imposed lockdown in time, the spread of coronavirus could have been easily stopped,” Bilawal added.

He said Prime Minister Imran Khan presided over a meeting while in quarantine due to coronavirus. “If the prime minister did not follow SOPs, how can he expect the nation will observe restrictions,” he continued.

Bilawal lamented that the government has also failed to vaccinate the nation. “The government could have bought coronavirus vaccine in huge quantity but it did not do so,” he maintained.

Had China not donated the vaccine, even the frontline health workers would not have been vaccinated.
