Pakistan is likely to receive a single-dose COVID-19 vaccine, revealed the National Institute of Health (NIH). It further unveiled that it was working towards a plan to develop this vaccine for the country.
“Our team is ready to undertake this task, while a Chinese team is already here to oversee the exercise,” Major General Aamer Ikram, NIH Executive Director, revealed on Thursday, April 15.
General Aamer stated that a clinical trial of the COVID-19 vaccine CanSinoBio had been carried out by the NIH, making Pakistan one of the first to do so.
He further said that the vaccine technology and raw material for the vaccine will reach Pakistan from China shortly.
In the last 24 hours, 5,364 people tested COVID-19 positive while 110 lost their lives, according to the latest statistics by the National Command and Operation Centre.
Pakistan’s passivity rate has risen to 8.31 per cent.
64,481 tests were conducted on April 15, 2021. The country has reported a total of 739,818 COVID-19 cases so far, since the start of the pandemic.
Sindh has recorded a total of 270,310 cases, Punjab: 258,441, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 102,290, Islamabad: 68,066, Balochistan: 20,580, Azad Jammu and Kashmir: 14,978, and Gilgit Baltistan: 5,153 cases.
Pakistan has seen a total of 650,775 recoveries so far.
