A group of 818 Indian Sikh yatrees [pilgrims] came to Pakistan through the Wagah border to participate in Baisakhi festivities at Gurdwara Panja Sahib, Hassan Abdal. The yatrees arrived on April 12 through the Wagah border, the Foreign Office confirmed on Twitter.

Spokesperson for the Foreign Officer Zahid Hafeez Chaudri said that adequate arrangements have been provided for the visitors, including for travelling, lodging, food, security, and medical assistance, in line with COVID-19 standard operating procedures.

The yatrees would also be visiting other gurdwaras in Pakistan during their visit, including Kartarpur.

“Pakistan remains committed to facilitate Sikhs from around the world, including from India, for visiting their religious sites,” the Foreign Office stated. “The Sikh, as well as the international community, have immensely appreciated the initiatives taken by Pakistan, including the landmark opening of the Kartarpur Corridor.”

Sikh pilgrimages to their holy sites in Pakistan have been regular since the inauguration of the visa-free Kartarur Corridor on November 9, 2019.
