The rift between the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) is far from over as the opposition alliance has removed the estranged Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the Awami National Party (ANP) leaders’ phone numbers from its WhatsApp group.

The leaders whose contacts were removed include Yousaf Raza Gillani, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Sherry Rehman of the PPP and ANP’s Mian Iftikhar.

PDM General Secretary Ahsan Iqbal, who is the group admin, removed the phone numbers of all these leaders.

The move came shortly after PDM chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman’s press conference in which he asked both the parties to review their decision to pull out of the alliance and said the “doors are open if they decide to come back.”

And for the PDM meeting preceding the press conference by the Maulana, no invitation was extended to both, the PPP and the ANP.

The PPP and the ANP had decided to part ways with the alliance they were served show-cause notices on the issue of election of the leader of the opposition in the Senate.
