Pakistan’s military leadership met today to review the domestic, regional, and global security environment, and undertook a detailed review of the security situation in the newly merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and expressed satisfaction with the status of the ongoing Afghan peace process.
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa chaired the 240th Corps Commanders’ Conference at the General Headquarters (GHQ) today, the military’s media wing reported.
The commanders reiterated the importance of the early induction of civil administration and other law enforcement agencies in KP, along with the speedy implementation of development plans, for the districts’ ultimate transition to civil administration in an earlier timeframe.
The forum expressed confidence in the operational preparedness of the army displayed during the recently held formation exercises. It also held a detailed discussion on the situation along Pakistan’s eastern border with India in the context of the ceasefire understanding 2021 between the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGsMO) of both countries. The military leadership also reaffirmed Pakistan’s complete solidarity with the Kashmiri people in their struggle for the right to self-determination.
The conference also reviewed the internal security situation and the ongoing third wave of COVID-19 in Pakistan and reaffirmed the resolve of the armed forces to extend full support to the civil administration in controlling the pandemic.
