As the third wave of the coronavirus brings a surge of cases across the country, the number of critical COVID-19 patients has increased to 432.

Of the ventilators reserved for COVID-19 patients, 432 are occupied across Pakistan. 70% of the reserved ventilators are occupied in Multan, 67% in Lahore, 60% in Gujranwala, and 57% in Islamabad. No patients are on ventilators in Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and AJK.

Of the allotted oxygen beds, 78% are occupied in Gujrat, 85% in Gujranwala, 77% in Peshawar, and 64% in Swat.

To date, a total of 696,184 COVID-19 cases have been reported in Pakistan (AJK 13,529; Balochistan 19,855; GB 5,061; ICT 62,211; KP 93,033; Punjab 235,569; Sindh 266,926). 10,493,362 tests have so far been conducted across the country.

Over the last 24 hours, 3,953 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Pakistan, according to data released by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC). Meanwhile, 103 people lost their lives to the virus, of which 93 died while hospitalised. 44 died while on ventilators.

Punjab continues to register the greatest number of COVID-19 deaths, followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

A total of 14,924 deaths have been registered across Pakistan so far.

The number of fatalities registered in the provinces stands at 6,675 in Punjab, 4,510 in Sindh, 2,469 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), 584 in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), 211 in Balochistan, 103 in Gilgit Baltistan (GB), and 372 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

As of April 6, 2021, there are 63,102 active cases of COVID-19 in Pakistan.

Yesterday, 46,665 tests were conducted across Pakistan, with 10,300 conducted in Sindh, 19,304 in Punjab, 7,198 in KP, 7,500 in ICT, 1,148 in Balochistan, 396 in GB, and 819 in AJK.

631 hospitals within Pakistan are equipped with COVID-19 facilities, with 4,387 patients admitted across the country.
