At least 422 COVID-19 patients are battling for life on ventilators whereas 4,288 critical cases are being treated at hospitals across Pakistan, according to the data released by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Sunday.
Pakistan reported 5,020 new cases amid an unrelenting third wave of the virus. Over the last 24 hours, 81 people passed away: 74 patients, including 24 on ventilators, died in hospitals. Punjab continues to register the greatest number of COVID-19 deaths, followed by Sindh.
A total of 14,778 deaths have been registered across Pakistan so far.
The number of fatalities registered in the provinces stands at 6,572 in Punjab, 4,506 in 4,509, 2,440 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), 579 in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), 211 in Balochistan, 103 in Gilgit Baltistan (GB), and 364 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
As of April 4, 2021, there are 60,072 active cases of COVID-19 in Pakistan.
Yesterday, 55,605 tests were conducted across Pakistan, with 9,347 conducted in Sindh, 27,914 in Punjab, 8,681 in KP, 7,498 in ICT, 938 in Balochistan, 389 in GB, and 838 in AJK.
631 hospitals within Pakistan are equipped with COVID-19 facilities, with 4,288 patients admitted across the country.
Of the ventilators reserved for COVID-19 patients, 422 are occupied across Pakistan. 70% of the reserved ventilators are occupied in Multan, 65% in Lahore, 60% in Gujranwala, and 54% in Islamabad. No patients are on ventilators in Balochistan, GB, and AJK.
Of the allotted oxygen bed, 85% are occupied in Gujranwala, 78% in Gujrat, 70% in Peshawar, and 71% in Swat.
To date, a total of 687,908 COVID-19 cases have been reported in Pakistan (AJK 13,321; Balochistan 19,734; GB 5,052; ICT 60,911; KP 91,439; Punjab 231,073; Sindh 266,378). 10,403,335 tests have so far been conducted across the country. So far, 613,058 people have recovered across Pakistan.
