RAWALPINDI: A crowd of ten to fifteen people attacked and damaged the Purana Qila temple in Rawalpindi. The district administration had recently carried out restoration and repair works at the temple.
On 24th March, the district administration had also cleared encroachments in front of the temple as part of the operations to make to temple functional again. The temple was not operational as yet nor were any religious sculptures kept at the temple. As of now, an FIR on the matter has been lodged. FIR states unknown people attacked the temple, broke the front door and damaged the stairway, further adding that the sanctity of the temple was violated.
Rawalpindi Police are investigating the matter, no arrests have been made as of yet.
