Pakistan’s contingent in New Zealand has been cleared to leave the isolation facility in Christchurch on Tuesday. This decision comes after all the players tested negative during the latest round of COVID-19 testing.
Last week, Pakistan cricket team’s training exemption was revoked after 10 members tested positive. According to the initial schedule, players were allowed to train together from the fourth day of the quarantine period.
Pakistan will now head to Queenstown where they will play intra-squad matches before the T20I series which starts from December 18.
New Zealand Cricket (NZC) said the team has been tested five times since arriving in New Zealand.
“Additionally, the member of the squad who was taken into quarantine in Auckland after arriving from Dubai feeling unwell but subsequently testing negative has also been cleared to leave the facility.”
Another member of the squad, who tested positive on the sixth day of their 14-day mandatory isolation, would remain in the bio-secure facility until they were cleared to leave by the health ministry.
Pakistan are due to play three T20’s and two tests against Kiwis. Also, Pakistan ‘A’ tour is being run concurrently.
