Pakistan on Friday recorded its highest single-day increase in COVID-19 infection since July 2020. In the last 24 hours, 4,368 people tested positive for COVID-19. The current trend indicates that the peak of the third wave will be seen in Ramzan.
Furthermore, 63 people lost their lives, according to the latest statistics released by the National Command and Control Centre (NCOC). Most casualties were seen in the province of Punjab followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK).
As of March 26, the total active COVID-19 cases in Pakistan stand at 40,124. Yesterday, 42,418 tests were conducted with Sindh conducting 8,506; Punjab: 17,315; Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 8,214; Islamabad: 6,733; Balochistan: 699; Gilgit-Baltistan (GB): 352 and Azad Kashmir (AJK): 637.
Of the ventilators reserved for COVID-19 patients, 380 are occupied across Pakistan. 64% of the reserved ventilators are occupied in Gujranwala, 65% in Multan, 52% in Islamabad, and 54% in Lahore. No patients are on ventilators in Balochistan, AJK, and GB.
A total of 645,356 cases have been detected so far in the country with AJK reporting 12,095; Balochistan:19,427; GB: 4,983; ICT: 54,347, KPK: 82,677; Punjab: 207,765 and Sindh:264,062.
Till now, Pakistan has recorded 14,091 deaths. Punjab is on top of the list with 6,142 casualties followed by Sindh: 4,486; KPK: 2,260; Islamabad: 555; Balochistan: 205; GB: 103 and AJK: 340.
631 hospitals in Pakistan are equipped with COVID-19 facilities with 3,333 patients being treated across the country. A total of 9,976,791 tests have been conducted so far.
