KARACHI: Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) has launched a ‘Hara Bhara Pakistan’ campaign to mark Pakistan Day, in line with the government’s efforts to promote greenery and tree plantation in the country.
Marking this year’s Pakistan Day, the Stock Exchange held a simple event to resolve that it is committed to adding to the efforts of making Pakistan green through the Green Pakistan Initiative and educate people to nurture plants and promote greenery. The launch event held at the Exchange included the seeding of a plant by CEO PSX Mr Farrukh H Khan, plant giveaways, and video recordings with messages by PSX senior management for social media promotion connected to this campaign. Along with the senior management and staff of PSX, Chairman Pakistan Stock Broker’s Association (PSBA) Mr Aqeel Karim Dhedhi attended the event.
Speaking at the occasion, the Managing Director and CEO of PSX Mr Farrukh Khan, said: “I am very happy to announce that Pakistan Stock Exchange has launched the ‘Hara Bhara Pakistan’ campaign. This is in keeping with the Stock Exchange’s tradition of organising productive and beneficial corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities for our community and environment and in line with Government of Pakistan’s objective of promoting a green Pakistan.”
“Pakistan is one of the countries most impacted by climate change. Hence it is very important for the government and private sector to focus on environmental issues for the sake of our future generations,” he added. “We appreciate the tree plantation effort started by the prime minister and fully support it. We are giving away 200 plants to individuals to kick-start this campaign which will include efforts to educate people and spread awareness of the importance of planting trees and shrubs. By planting a sapling here at the Exchange, we hope to send our message across to all our compatriots that we must invest in our future by planting trees which is akin to having a green portfolio and a sound investment, thereby securing our future.”
Speaking at the occasion, Chairman PSBA Mr Aqeel Dhedhi said: “On this occasion of the launch of ‘Hara Bhara Pakistan’ campaign by PSX marking Pakistan Day, PSBA stands together with Pakistan Stock Exchange to resolve that it is committed to helping make Pakistan green. Just as a huge tree starts with a small sapling, we hope that this campaign will also grow large enough to spread its branches and provide a green shade all over Pakistan.”
