Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Javed Latif has been booked by the Lahore police for making anti-state remarks.
The FIR [first information report] was filed by a citizen named Jameel Saleem at the Township police station and booked the PML-N leader under sections 120, 120-B, 153, 153-A, 500, and 500 1 –B.
According to the FIR, PML-N’s Javed Latif with his remarks tried to defame the state institutions besides carrying out hate speech.
The complainant said that the statement of the PML-N leader created hate between the Pakistan People’s Party and its workers. He urged the authorities to take action against MNA Mian Javed Latif under the Pakistan Prevention of Electronic Crime Act (PECA).
The complainant further said that the lawmaker tried to hurt the sentiments of the people, adding that the PML-N leader tried to “terrorise citizens” through his remarks.
The FIR stated that by making such a statement the PML-N leader violated the law.
The case was registered days after the PML-N leader said in a TV show that if anything happened to PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz, the PML-N will not say “Pakistan Khappay”. He was alluding to reported threats to Maryam in response to her criticism of the government and the establishment.
