Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) head Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman has accused the government of horse trading in the election of chairman and deputy chairman of the Senate.

It is learnt that the Maulana on Thursday had a telephonic conversation with former president Asif Ali Zardari to discuss tomorrow’s election of Senate chairman and deputy.

Talking to former president Zardari, the Maulana threatened the government that if tried to steal our votes, the alliance will expose what the government had done during the March 3 Senate election.

Asif Zardari, who is the People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman, said that the PDM has a clear lead over the government in the Senate and expressed the hope that Yousaf Raza Gilani and Ghafoor Haideri will win.

He said that our homework for the election to top slots of the Senate is complete. Every members of the opposition alliance have assured him of his support, he continued.

The Maulana criticised Prime Minister Imran Khan for his sermon on ethics and claimed that “our members are being pressured to vote for Sanjrani,” the government candidate for the chairman.

The head of PDM said that “we have the numbers; the government can only win by indulging in horse trading. If our victory is turned into defeat, then we will bring everything into masses knowledge.”
