South Africa’s former captain Faf du Plessis is hopeful that Quetta Gladiators have the personnel and capability to make a comeback in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Currently, Quetta are sitting at the bottom of the table with three loses from three games. Du Plessis said that his team needs one win to get their campaign back on track.
“The fact that we batted first every game I think does play a small role. The stats on the competition so far just shows that for the team chasing it is a little bit easier but in saying that I think we can be a little smart in the way that we bowl and do one or two things differently in the field. We got some crucial wickets in the last match and from the position that we were we should have got across the line in that game,” he said.
He also spoke about shifting from Test cricket to T20 cricket and said that it is difficult to adjust quickly but as a professional you should be adaptable.
“It was quite strange for me as I have been in Test cricket mode for the last six weeks. I haven’t been playing T20 cricket so it was a bit of throw yourself into the deep end because I did three days in quarantine and then straight into the first match. So you rely on the experience that you have of playing T20 cricket,” he concluded.
Quetta Gladiators will be up against Islamabad United on Monday and will be looking to end their losing streak.
