Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that his party is prepared for open balloting in the Senate election.
Addressing party workers on Thursday, he said PPP is ready for both an open ballot and a secret ballot in the Senate elections, but the government needs to prepare for the election. “We are ready for secret or open balloting, but are you ready,” Bilawal Bhutto taunted the ruling Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI). He also reiterated that the opposition will hold a long march in the month of March. “There will be a march in March,” he said.
He said the government’s effort to change the Senate’s electoral process to an open ballot is a no-confidence verdict in its own parliamentarians. “The government believes that their parliamentarians will not cast votes in their support,” Bilawal Bhutto said, asking “why should their parliamentarian vote for the government’s candidate when they know that the government is on its way out.”
Addressing party workers, he said the government is uneasy with the result of PS-88 elections as PPP’s candidate won the by-election, beating PTI’s candidate by a huge margin.
Bilawal Bhutto said the government is making every institution controversial. “When we call for a transparent election, some secretly filmed videos appeared,” Bilawal Bhutto said while referring to the vote-buying video. “In this video, PTI money is distributed to PTI voters for the favor of PTI candidates, but they blamed the opposition.”
He said such videos and propaganda is a conspiracy against democracy.
