Speaking at his weekly press briefing in Islamabad today, the Spokesperson of the Foreign Office Mr Zahid Hafiz Chaudri said that India should not bar Sikh pilgrims from visiting their holy sites in Pakistan.
“Pakistan believes that the religious places of Sikh yatris in Pakistan are important. We promote and facilitate Sikh yatris to visit Pakistan for their religious sites from all over the world, including India,” he said.
“In this regard, you must have noticed Pakistan’s initiative of the Kartarpur Corridor. Despite all challenges, we were able to complete the project in record time,” he added. “The contribution of Pakistan’s leadership to that was greatly acknowledged and appreciated by the international community.”
“Even now, we believe that Sikh yatris should not be barred from visiting their sacred sites due to hurdles presented by the Indian government. Instead, they should be facilitated so they can observe their religious acts,” he said.
