On Monday, a five-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Gulzar Ahmed summoned the Chief Election Commissioner as well all the members of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to Supreme Court tomorrow.

Chief Justice gave this order while hearing the petition of holding the Senate elections through open ballot and show of hands.

During the proceeding, CJ Gulzar said that it is the constitutional duty of the ECP to hold free, transparent and fair elections.

The government had filed a reference in the Supreme Court of Pakistan seeking permission to hold Senate elections by show of hands. President in December signed a presidential reference prepared to change the voting method in the upcoming Senate elections from a secret ballot to show of hands.
