Iqbal Shahid, Zonal Head South Punjab, talks to the media on the occasion.

Development in South Punjab seems to be picking speed as two new passport offices have been established in Kot Addu and Taunsa.

Kot Addu passport office became operational today, after State Minister for Housing and Works Mian Shabbir Ali Qureshi inaugurated the office in the presence of a large number of enthusiastic locals. This office is based in a new updated model called “one window system. In this system, all the passport procedures are completed on one counter, and applicants are not required to move to different counters to get their passports processed.

Kot Addu is a large tehsil of district Muzaffargarh. Previously, residents of this tehsil hadto travel to Muzaffargarh for issuance of their passports. Establishment of a passport office in this city was a long standing demand of the local population.

A few month earlier, a passport office was also established at Taunsa, which is home town of Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdaar. The passport office established in Taunsa also follows an updated system, providing one window operation facilities to residents seeking to get their passports processed.
