ISLAMABAD: The Office of the Prime Minister released a statement on Sunday, detailing the increase in prices of petroleum products. The increase in price ranges from Rs.2.70 to Rs.3.54, which is significantly less than the proposed increase in prices by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). 

The statement read, “PM Imran Khan approved a minimum increase in the prices of petroleum products in the public interest, contrary to the recommendations sent by OGRA to increase the prices of petroleum products.”

In the summary sent to the Prime Minister, the price of petrol was proposed to be increased by Rs.13.18 per litre, high-speed diesel by Rs.12.12 per litre, kerosene by Rs.11.10 per litre and light diesel by Rs.6.62 per litre. 

But, the prime minister approved an increase of Rs.2.70 per litre in petrol price, Rs.2.88 per litre in high-speed diesel, Rs.3.54 per litre in kerosene and Rs 3.00 per litre in light diesel.
