As many countries around the globe have announced stringent lock downs to combat the second wave of Covid-19 and keeping in mind the rising cases in Pakistan, PM Imran Khan will head the meeting of the National Coordination Committee (NCCC). Meeting will ponder upon the current situation and options on enforcing further restrictions.
According to the NCOC daily update issued on Monday, 1167 more people tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. 14 people passed away.

Sindh conducting 9,784 ; Punjab 9,030 ; KP 3,665 ; ICT 4,059 ; Balochistan 597; GB 405 and AJK 444
Currently, 129 vents are occupied across Pakistan out of 1884 vents allocated for COVID-19.
A total of 330,200 cases detected so far AJK 4330 ; Balochistan 15,977 ; GB 4293 ; ICT 20,243 ; KP 39,799 ; Punjab 104,894 and Sindh 146,794. 6,849 deaths have been reported in total.
“I have a feeling that further restrictions or a line of action for further restrictions will be announced as we cannot afford an increase in cases of the deadly virus.”
He said the meeting would be held in the evening at PM House where the federal and provincial governments, armed forces and other stakeholders would ensure their representation.
While the representative body of doctors, Pakistan Medical Association (PMA), has appealed to the relevant authorities to ensure everyone wears a mask and that the leaders of ruling and opposition parties throwing caution to the wind by shaking hands or by not putting on masks are not given TV coverage, the federal government asserted that decisions could not be taken without taking the provinces onboard.
A public health professional, who participates in the daily meeting of National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), said on condition of anonymity said that in May and June Covid-19 cases increased eight folds “I don’t think that the situation is very bad as we were dealing with a new virus in May, but now a large number of people have exposure to the virus. To some extent we have achieved herd immunity due to which cases will not increase with the pace we observed in May,”
