The cold war between Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) two big shots, Chairman Ehsan Mani and Chief Executive Officer Wasim Khan is no longer a secret.
After a disastrous tour of New Zealand, Wasim Khan wanted to sack both Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis but Ehsan Mani resisted the changes, a source told The Correspondent. The rift between two high officials is spreading uncertainty in the PCB.
After assuming the office in 2018, the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan appointed Ehsan Mani as the Chairman of PCB.
During the last 18 months, the return of international cricket in Pakistan has been mainly due to the efforts of Wasim Khan. This year Pakistan is set to host South Africa, New Zealand, England and West Indies.
Ehsan Mani has been undermining Wasim Khan’s achievements in front of the Senate Committee, according to the sources.
PCB’s chairman tenure will end in September 2021 and will have to gain majority in the Board of Governors while Wasim’s contract will be ending in mid 2022.
