Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Wednesday announced a number of major appointments and transfers within the Pakistan Army. Former DG ISPR Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor, has been elevated to the rank of lieutenant general and appointed as Inspector General Communication & Information Technology (IG C&IT).
DG ISPR Major General Babar Iftikhar stated that six major generals are promoted to the rank of lieutenant general. “Those promoted include Major General Akhtar Nawaz, Major General Sardar Hassan Azhar Hayat, Major General Salman Fayyaz Ghani, Major General Sarfraz Ali and Major General Muhammad Ali,” said DG ISPR.
DG ISPR also released details of appointments and postings of Lieutenant Generals.
Lieutenant General Nadeem Ahmed Anjum as Corps Commander Karachi and Lieutenant General Muhammad Abdul Aziz has been appointed as Corps Commander Lahore. Lieutenant General Muhammad Waseem Ashraf as Corps Commander Multan while Lieutenant General Khalid Zia has been posted as Corps Commander Bahawalpur. The newly promoted Lieutenant General Sarfraz Ali has been posted as Corps Commander Southern Command and Lieutenant General Muhammad Ali as Commander of Army Strategic Forces Command.
Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor, who was serving as the General Officer Commanding Okara has been elevated to the rank of lieutenant general. He has been appointed as Inspector General Communication & Information Technology (IG C&IT)
