Khyber Pakhtunkhua’s government has announced the reconstruction of the destroyed temple in Karrak, a district in the Kohat division of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province. KP’s Chief Minister, Mahmood Khan has passed orders for this new venture, and has issued directives to officials ensure reconstruction. The province’s government has assured that this will be undertaken immediately.

Government officials have revealed that perpetrators of the temple’s destruction have been arrested, warning citizens that nobody will be allowed to take law into their own hands. They reported the arrest of at least 45 culprits, including three who were directly nominated in the First Information Report (FIR).

A mob, led by the clerics, destroyed the temple earlier this week as police officers remained spectators. The mob claimed that the Hindu community was violating the Supreme Court’s decision on halting the extension of temple. However, the Hindu community maintains that it had sought prior permission for expansion from local administration.
