Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President, speaking to media today, confirmed that 159 out of 160 party Members of Provincial Assembly (MPAs), as well as 95% of Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) have handed in their resignations to the party leadership.
“One resignation is missing only because the MPA is currently on a ventilator,” she added.
Until December 31, she said, all party members have been advised to hand in their resignations directly to the PML-N party leadership. The resignations would be collectively submitted by the party to the Speakers of the assemblies on a date decided by the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), she clarified.
The future does not belong to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), she said. Referring to those who are scrutinizing the PDM and PML-N as “foolish,” she said that any attempts to break up the opposition will fail.
“They tried to break up the ranks of Jamiat Ulema-e Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and it backfired,” she said, referring to the ousting of four high ranking members from the party today.
“If you prop up two, three people who suddenly start speaking against their party leadership, the public will not be foolish enough to believe it,” she insisted. “If the mainstream media suddenly starts giving coverage to dissidents who were previously obscure, the public is wise enough to know what is going on.”
